Place Names (U) Union Street -

Union Street, Bonhill

Union Street runs parallel to Main Street in Bonhill but high above it. At one end lies Dalmonach Road, while the south end is exited via Hall Street. It consists of 2 storey red sandstone terraced buildings, the sandstone being from local quarries.

It was a late Victorian build at about the same time as the villas in Dalmonach road i.e. about 1890, and was for some time after referred to as the “new suburb of Bonhill”. In 1900, the Co-op added a terrace building in the Street.
